Chair - Maggie Simons
Maggie is a Trustee and
Chair of Education Committee of the
National Federation of Women’s Institutes (NFWI). She began work in international licensing and technology, formed a partnership with a friend to provide research, was sub-editor on an organic gardening magazine and now runs a small family property company. In 1990 she joined West Buckland WI and served as Secretary, Vice-president and Assistant treasurer. Co-opted on to Somerset Federation Executive Committee, she was Treasurer for five years and chaired committees, including Finance and Special Events.
Moving to Wiltshire in 2005, Maggie joined Bishopstone with Hinton Parva WI and currently chairs Wiltshire Federation’s Public Affairs Committee. The same year she was elected on to the Board of Trustees. She is currently Chair of the Education Committee, sits on the Denman College Committee and is a member of the WI Enterprises Board.
Roger Bannister
Roger Bannister is Creative Director at Springetts, a UK based, international design company with over 26 years' experience in creating, maintaining and growing brands. Totally independent, the company is owned by key members of staff. Their services include: brand identity, corporate identity, graphic design, corporate literature, brand positioning, name generation, market audits, facilitated workshops and NPD.
Clare Cumberlidge
Clare Cumberlidge is a Founding Director of General Public Agency, which works in the public realm, delivering fresh and effective thinking and solutions in planning, regeneration and culture. Recent work includes: A Study on Visitor Engagement for the National Trust; A Social and Cultural Survey of Hoxton and Shoreditch for the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation. Clare was previously one of Britain’s leading independent curators and is an expert in inter-disciplinary creative practice. She specialized in emerging areas of artistic practice (pioneering the relationship between art and science and between contemporary artists and museology). As a curator and cultural planner she has wide-ranging experience on ground-breaking projects within regeneration and the public realm, developing innovative approaches to collaborative and cross-disciplinary work involving creative practitioners in the built environment and engaging the public with processes of renewal and change. She has devised and delivered a number of national case studies in cultural practice and is a leading commentator on the future of cultural policy and practice.
Maggie Hodgetts
Maggie Hodgetts graduated from Norwich School of Art and then worked for one of the partners of Larkin, Stratton and May. Nine years later she became graphic design manager for the John Lewis Partnership. In 1998, after much art directing and design management, Maggie became head of graphic design for Waitrose. Her role includes design direction in the company's visual identity, advertising, publishing and product packaging.
Andrew Opie
Andrew is Food and Consumer Policy Director at the British Retail Consortium, the trade association for retailers. The BRC’s members cover all aspects of retailing from large, out of town stores to small high street retailers and internet sellers. BRC members account for approximately 80% of all retail sales in the UK. Andrew has been with the BRC for four and half years, he was previously Head of Policy Services at the National Farmers’ Union.
