Awards

Kalyx

Awards: £2000

Kalyx design, build, finance and manage prisons, young offender institutions, an immigration detention and removal centre, and probation service approved premises in the UK, all under contracts with Home Office departments. They also have a contract to build and manage a new prison in West Lothian on behalf of the Scotish Prison Service; HMP Addiewell is due to open ahead of schedule before the end of 2008 and will be the newest prison design in the UK.
Kalyx is a business with social purpose, providing custody with care for male and female prisoners, young offenders, detainees and residents and they train and educate inmates for resettlement and provide opportunities for their rehabilitation on release from prison. They also care for immigration detainees and seek to resettle ex-offenders and reduce drug-related crime.
Kalyx currently operates HMP Forest Bank at Salford, HMP Bronzefield at Ashford, Middlesex, HMP Peterborough and Harmondsworth Immigration Removal Centre near Heathrow. A project for male and female ex-offenders in the Bristol area has been piloted by Kalyx.
