Design led solutions to help communities tackle climate change

This project, part of a collaboration with NESTA exploring the role of design in response to key challenges in contemporary life, is an opportunity to think about design and the role of the designer in a new way.

In the next few years, we need to reduce our carbon usage to avoid the worst consequences of human-induced climate change. The purpose of this brief is to get designers to work with a community to understand why the issue of climate change is important, and then what, as a group, they can do to lessen its effects by developing design-led solutions to bring about change.

Support for participants undertaking this project
This project is supported by a range of resources (accessed from the Resources link below). In addition there is a filmed interview (use link below to view) involving an expert partner with whom we worked to develop the project, and a designer. This has been made specifically to offer extra support and insight to students working on the project.
