The Home Office security website provides unclassified information about the work of the Office for Security and Counter-terrorism and includes guidance on planning, background to legislation and information about how partners and stakeholders work together to respond to terrorist attacks.
This site links to a publication, by the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister, which provides a good practice guide for planners, architects and developers to make streets, homes, and parks safer places.
The National Counter Terrorism Security Office website contains guidance publications that may be useful.
Centre for the Protection of National Infrastructure is the Government authority which provides protective security advice to businesses and organisations across the national infrastructure.
The Home Office Scientific Development Branch website may be useful, in particular the section on Security and Protection which evaluates, tests and develops equipment and techniques to help protect the public and the national infrastructure.

This document gives general protective security advice from MI5’s National Security Advice Centre (NSAC). Protecting Against Terrorism is aimed at businesses and organisations seeking to reduce the risk of a terrorist attack, or to limit the damage terrorism might cause.
Counter Terrorism Protective Security Advice for Bars, Pubs and Nightclubs a guide produced by NaCTSO, provides protective security advice to those who own, operate, manage or work in bars, pubs or nightclubs. It aids those who are seeking to reduce the risk of a terrorist attack and limit the damage an attack might cause.
This document from NaCTSO is intended to give protective security advice to those who are responsible for stadium and arena security, irrespective of size and capacity and is not specific to any particular sport or event. Counter Terrorism Protective Security Advice for Stadia and Arenas is aimed at those stadia and arenas that are seeking to reduce the risk of a terrorist attack, or limit the damage terrorism might cause.
Protecting Against Terrorism is a booklet from MI5 aimed at those who are responsible for the safety of others in businesses and in other organisations. It contains protective security advice derived from MI5’s role in advising organisations that own or operate key assets, services and systems which form part of the UK’s critical national infrastructure.
Safer Places: A Counter Terrorism Supplement
This document, which can be used as general background information, was made available for a Home Office public consultation exercise which ended on 10th July 2009. Responses received from that consultation exercise will shape the final version of the document prior to publication, likely to be towards the end of 2009.
