'Global issue|Local solution encouraged young designers to develop solutions that would enable individuals and communities to live lower-carbon lifestyles.

Her response to the project resulted in a product to grow salad in the home throughout the year.

She determined that, even in a limited space, this would be an effective approach to reducing carbon usage, by tackling issues around shopping miles, excess packaging and the heavy discarding of unused food (bagged salads are the most frequently discarded items).
